Mikko farm Garden of Hearts

The Garden of Hearts at Mikko Farm is located in the village of Tännassilma, Põlva County, on the banks of a stream.

The family behind the farm has proven that with a true passion for gardening, deep knowledge, and wholehearted dedication, it’s possible to create a grand and authentic English garden even in Estonia. The garden was started in 1996, and over the years, it has grown into a lush, two-hectare English-style country garden full of diverse plant species and picturesque views. There are different garden spaces, a rock garden, a woodland garden, and ponds blooming with water lilies. The garden is home to over a thousand taxa.

In the farm’s kitchen garden, proud chickens roam around their coops. The farm also includes a small nursery and a crafts and reuse corner.

The garden can be visited from May to October by prior arrangement.

Guided Walks with the Hostess
The hostess will take you on a walk through this natural species-rich ornamental garden, where the plant selection is carefully harmonised with the surrounding environment. The garden’s unique charm lies in its creative reuse and conscious design. Visitors can enjoy scenic views, the babbling of the stream, birdsong, and a wide variety of plants. The hostess shares inspiring ideas on how to keep a garden attractive yet natural and how to breathe new life into old objects through thoughtful garden design.

Picnic or Gathering at the Garden of Hearts
The garden is spacious enough for escaping the city buzz for a couple of peaceful hours. Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with some cake baked by the hostess. You’re welcome to have a picnic or a barbeque, or book catering services. From May to October, the seminar house is available for hosting events, training, and gatherings.
