Avinurme Woodworking Centre

Location: Avinurme is located in the eastern part of Estonia, on the Rakvere-Mustvee road, on the Tudulinna crossroads. Avinurme Woodworking Centre is located right in the centre of Avinurme, across the road from the bus station.

Avinurme is known for its barrels and wood chip baskets. Due to its location and natural conditions, the region has had a strong tradition of woodworking and business for centuries, based on know-how passed down from generation to generation.

The Avinurme Woodworking Centre is a tourist centre and home to Avinurme's wooden handicrafts.

The woodworking centre has the richest selection of wood chip products in Estonia, as well as a wide range of sauna products and wooden household utensils. The woodworking centre organises a variety of workshops: basket weaving, chip crafts, home-made bread baking, rubber overshoes painting and more. The Centre's menu is characterised by local ingredients and local chefs and their exciting recipes. Whenever possible, we give preference to fish from Lake Peipsi and ingredients provided by the forests of Alutaguse.

You can taste homemade cakes and pies, home-baked bread and other goodies in the cozy café corner of the Woodworking Centre.

By prior arrangement, we can offer catering for groups of up to 80 people.

The Avinurme Woodworking Centre's package "Trees talk ..." and the workshops "Basket weaving" and "Baking a bread piglet" have been recognised with the EHE (Genuine and Interesting Estonia) ecotourism quality label.
