Paradise Garden is a Japanese-inspired visitor garden in Võrumaa, Southern Estonia, where nature, tranquillity and carefully designed garden spaces come together. Over the years, this two-hectare garden has become a place where people come not only to admire its beauty, but also to experience the peace and presence of nature—to slow down, become more aware and simply enjoy the moment. Woodland, open lawns, ponds, stone compositions and a variety of distinctive garden spaces create a diverse landscape. In spring, rhododendrons and cherry trees are in bloom; in summer, roses, perennials and hydrangeas fill the garden with colour. Throughout the year, mature conifers, moss-covered woodland and landscapes inspired by Japanese garden design create a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
Guided visits are available with the garden's creator, Marje Pettai. These are not traditional garden tours—each visit is unique, shaped by the season, the weather, nature itself and the people walking together that day. Along the way, visitors hear the story of the garden's creation, learn about the principles of Japanese garden design, and discover the birds and wildlife that have made Paradise Garden their home.
At Paradise Garden, nature can be experienced with all the senses—listening to the wind, watching reflections on the water and the play of light, and discovering the plants that grow throughout the garden. Herbal tea is often prepared on site from seasonal plants such as meadowsweet, water mint, fireweed or wild thyme. Those who wish may sit by the pond, dip their feet into the water and watch the curious fish swim nearby.
A visit can be enriched with moments of silence, guided meditation, mindful nature walks and tea ceremonies inspired by the Japanese practice of forest bathing (shinrin-yoku). If desired, the tea ceremony can also be combined with a personal conversation or an individual wellbeing session.
Paradise Garden is a place for those who wish to slow down, enjoy nature and discover a unique garden at a peaceful pace.
